How we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information.
Effective Date: June 21, 2022
Last Updated: September 16, 2026
Community Development Programs Center of Nevada (“CDPCN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have.
This policy applies to our website, our online and paper housing applications, our waiting lists, our resident and maintenance portals, and the personal information we handle in the course of operating and managing affordable housing communities.
CDPCN is an Equal Housing Opportunity provider. We comply with the federal Fair Housing Act, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination Act, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and Nevada fair housing law (NRS Chapter 118).
We do not discriminate in the rental, application, screening, waiting list, or occupancy process on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), familial status, or disability, or on any additional basis protected by Nevada law, including ancestry, age, or source of income.
Information that identifies or relates to a protected characteristic is collected only where it is legally required or permitted — for example, when a funding agency requires aggregate demographic reporting, or when you voluntarily provide it in support of a request for a reasonable accommodation. We do not use this information to select, rank, reject, or prioritize applicants. Where demographic information is requested on an application, providing it is voluntary, and declining will not affect your application.
Applications and waiting lists are processed according to consistent, written, objective criteria applied uniformly to all applicants.
When you browse our website we may automatically collect your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits. If you submit a contact form we collect the name, email address, telephone number, and message content you provide.
To determine eligibility for affordable housing, we may collect:
If you join a waiting list we retain your contact information, household size, preference or priority category where applicable, and the date and time of your application so that we can administer the list fairly and in order.
For residents we maintain lease and tenancy records, rent payment and ledger history, recertification records, correspondence, notices, emergency contact information, and records of incidents or lease matters affecting the tenancy.
When you submit a maintenance request we collect your name, unit number, contact information, a description of the issue, any photographs you provide, permission-to-enter instructions, pet or access notes, and the record of work performed.
If you create a resident, applicant, or maintenance portal account we collect your username, email address, and a securely hashed password, along with account activity such as sign-in times and actions taken in the portal. Passwords are stored using one-way cryptographic hashing and are not visible to our staff.
If you make payments through a portal, card and bank account details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers or bank account numbers on our systems.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it for marketing purposes.
We share personal information only as described below.
Some information we handle is especially sensitive — Social Security numbers, income and asset documentation, disability-related information, screening results, and information related to domestic violence protections under VAWA.
We restrict access to this information to staff and service providers with a legitimate business or legal need to see it. Disability-related information supplied in connection with a reasonable accommodation request is kept confidential, stored separately from general tenancy files where practicable, and used only to evaluate and implement the request.
We are committed to making our housing, services, and communications accessible to people with disabilities and to our senior residents.
You may request a reasonable accommodation in our rules, policies, practices, or services, or a reasonable modification to a dwelling, at any time — during the application process or during your tenancy. Requests may be made verbally or in writing and do not need to use any particular form or wording.
We will ask only for information necessary to evaluate the request. If your disability and the need for the accommodation are not obvious, we may request verification from a reliable third party, limited to confirming the disability-related need. We will not ask for your diagnosis or unrelated medical records.
If you need this Privacy Policy, an application, or any other document in an alternative format — large print, audio, or another accessible form — or need assistance completing a form, please contact us using the information below and we will provide it at no cost to you.
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy and to satisfy legal, program, and audit obligations. Retention periods are set by the funding and regulatory programs that govern each property, and commonly require records to be kept for several years after an application is denied or withdrawn, or after a tenancy ends. Where a record is subject to litigation, audit, or legal hold, we retain it until the matter is resolved.
When information is no longer required, we destroy or de-identify it using methods appropriate to its sensitivity.
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include encryption of data transmitted to and from our website, access controls and role-based permissions, secure password storage, physical security for paper files, staff training, and vendor due diligence.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by Nevada law.
Subject to applicable law and program requirements, you may:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below. We will verify your identity before responding and will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Exercising these rights will never affect your housing application, your position on a waiting list, or your tenancy.
Under Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A, Nevada residents have the right to submit a verified request directing a website operator not to sell any covered personal information the operator has collected or will collect about them. CDPCN does not sell personal information as defined by NRS 603A. You may still submit a verified opt-out request to the email address below, and we will honor it.
Nevada law also requires that we implement reasonable security measures and notify affected individuals in the event of a breach of unencrypted personal information.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Strictly necessary cookies enable core functions such as secure sign-in, session management, and form security, and cannot be disabled without affecting site functionality. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use our site in aggregate so we can improve it.
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent portal sign-in and form submission from working. Our website does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
Our website may link to third-party sites and services, including housing agencies, payment processors, and partner organizations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Our website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. We do collect information about minor household members — such as name, age, and relationship — from the adult applicant or resident, as required to determine household size and program eligibility. That information is handled with the same protections described in this policy. If you believe a child has provided information to us directly online, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above and post the current version on this page. If the changes are significant, we will provide additional notice, such as a notice on our website or a direct communication. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, wish to exercise any of your rights, need this document in an alternative format, or want to make a reasonable accommodation request, please contact us:
